Finding Your Voice
Customizing VoterCast for Your Jurisdiction
Every election office has its own story to tell. The way one official talks about early voting in a rural county may differ from how an official in a densely populated urban jurisdiction may address it. There are different landmarks, different neighborhoods, and a variety of voters asking different questions. That’s exactly why VoterCast was never built to be a one-size-fits-all tool. It’s a starting point to help election officials get going, but also allows for users to make designs and products that fit the needs of their communities.
In August, we’re all about helping election officials use VoterCast to sound and feel unique to their jurisdictions. Keep reading to learn how!
Your Brand, Not Ours
VoterCast’s self-serve templates are built so your office’s identity leads, every time a voter sees a graphic it should contain:
Your logo should be front and center and used in any promotional graphics
Your colors should be applied to every template to help with continuity and brand identity
Your official URL should be used so that every call to action points back to your official website, and helps establish your office as the trusted source of election information in your community.
We built these templates to be easily edited, so swapping out colors, logos, and URL information doesn’t require a design background. If you can update a slide deck, you can rebrand a VoterCast template.
Getting Started
If you’re updating a VoterCast template for the first time, start small and follow these quick steps to ensure your branding is in alignment with your office needs.
Add your logo if you did not during the sign-up process, and confirm your color palette
Double check every link and update any that need to be updated
Start creating graphics!
Share the first few graphics internally before publishing so your team can flag anything that doesn’t sound or look like your office
Customization is iterative. Most offices don’t get it perfectly tuned on the first try, which is why these templates are designed to be revisited and redesigned as needed. Election offices earn trust through consistency and familiarity. Customized graphics help your office do just that by ensuring that your story is told through a consistent and familiar lens that voters will recognize and understand.
Does your office love VoterCast and have a customization win you’re proud of? Show it off in the comments or shoot us an email at votercast@readyfortuesday.com!
